Develop Self Service Applications

Critical Success Factors

  1. We will research and prioritize possible applications for development.
  2. We will enhance the application development process by requiring and incorporating more user involvement and feedback in the application design phase.
  3. We will solicit input for application enhancements and new applications on a periodic basis from the University community.  We will review, then prioritize these requests based on fair standards.
  4. We will reengineer existing business practices to empower university constituents through on line applications.
  5. We will institute a periodic review process for current applications in order to determine possible enhancements and improvements.

1,2,3,4 P1. Create a formal ISDM, including project management
  • workflow
  • project requests
  • criteria for prioritization such as cost savings, staff availability, staff skill set, department/unit’s willingness to make the project successful
  • response system that’s fair and systematic, but considers urgency and political issues.
2,5 P2.

Develop standards and processes for customer interaction and methods of insuring appropriate customer participation from concept to maintenance.

Create a master project listing

  • Write down, then categorize all projects.
  • Determine which projects on the master listing have interaction, should be tabled, are affected by ERP.
  • Perform a cost/benefit and service/benefit analysis of projects
  • Prioritize and coordinate projects.
  • Implement project plans to follow as a means of prioritizing day to day work and clarify scope and boundaries.
  • Perform a post mortem of the process.  Adjust. Begin again.
2 P4. Institute a formal process for purchasing software.

Design and propose best practices

  • Research the issue using various resources, internal and external to the University.
  • Collate data.  Glean best/most suitable practices for FSU.
  • Create a list of proposed practices, requirements, impact.
  • Present to Leadership Team for guidance.
P6.

Create a policy manual and guidelines for business practices related to resources and funding requirements, centralization & integration, other general policy issues that need attention.

2,3,4,5 P7.

Create a high level ER diagram/interactions between OTI units; identify bottlenecks, single points of failure.
